Title: GHOST NET – Enter LIVE, Exit GHOST
Materials: all recycled: FlipFlops, Bottle Caps, Driftwood, Rope, Net, String
Ghost Nets are a well known phenomenon: discarded nets which are left to drift in our seas and waterways trap marine life and extinguish it. There are environmental groups that are working hard to find ghost nets, free the animals trapped within them, and remove them from the water, but the process is costly and difficult. This work “Enter Live, Exit Ghost, is made almost entirely of flotsam and jetsam recovered from our beaches. It is a commentary on the fatal effect of ghost nets: there are positive fish forms entering the central spiral of the work, and as they exit the positive fish forms are replaced by negative fish forms.
